Good Reads

Listening to: "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" - Cage the Elephant

I'm taking a comparative literature course this quarter, it's allowed to fall in love with reading again! Not that I ever really 'unloved' (haha) reading novels and short story collections, but I always had my nose buried in my textbooks. However, this made me make time to read some more enjoyable pieces.

SOO, if you are looking for a good book may I recommend;

Ports of Call by Amin Maalouf
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
A Night in Acadie by Kate Chopin
Behind Closed Doors by Maria Messina

Picked up Laura Mercier Flawless Face Kit today at Sephora. I've been wanting to try her make-up for awhile now. I see great reviews online and my beautiful friend Laura uses it and swears by it! This was such a great deal, I figured if I was ever going to try it, it should be now! Can't wait to see if it works...

I can forgive, but I cannot forget

I've learned I can forgive most anyone. I have felt such strong anger towards people before - girl friends, teachers, family members, my peers. But time has always healed that. With time, I no longer feel the anger at the thought of that person. Unfortunately, I really cannot forget the feelings that were hurt, the insecurities that were embedded, the embarrassment I felt, and the betrayal I tasted. I can learn to look over them at most times with time, but the truth is they will ways still be there. I'm not going to apologize for that either, I am human. I'm not going to be made to feel guilty for this either. I have become friends again with people I thought I never would. I have pleasant simple conversations with people I thought I could never talk to again. I've even accepted Facebook friend requests to some of my childhood 'enemies', the few that made me feel my lowest.

Anyways, all I have to say is time is an amazing prescription. When the proper dosage of time, nearly anything can be healed.

All I'm asking for is time to forgive you. What it comes down to is, I hope I run into you in five years. Maybe then I'll let go of the things I've been made to feel.

For the mean time, this will be the soundtrack of my life :) This, time, and my books will have to get me through. I've got quite a journey ahead of me

This is how it works

You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't

Today I'm tired.  Lately I find myself daydreaming of Edvard Munch.  Who could blame me?  His paintings are enchanting. Definitely one of my top three favorite painters.  Maybe even in the number one spot.

Simple, Honest, Tangible, Haunting, Mesmerizing, and so on and so forth

Where do you live?

Love is a place

Part 1.
I love to people-watch. Here are some observations I've made lately.

I can always tell when men are foreign when...
1. They are wearing 'manpris' (capris for men)
2. They are carrying a across the body 'manpurse'
3. Usually topped off with a tight tee and/or flip flops or velcro sandals

Anyone agree?

In the winter, I can always tell when a girl is in a sorority when...
1. She is wearing a sweatshirt with her letters
2. With true religion jeans tucked into Ugg Boots
3. She's wearing the Tiffany's heart toggle necklace that blew up after Legally Blonde from 2004 or however longgg ago that movie came out
4. She's carrying a canvas tote bag with her sorority's letter screenprinted on or some phrase like "______ is for girls who like pearls".  Since when did any letter of the greek alphabet sound like Juicy Couture?
5. She believes this is a fashionable combination

Part 2.

JUICY HAS THE CUTEST CROSSBODY BAGS RIGHT NOW...

I need some meaning I can memorize

... the kind I have always seems to slip my mind

Reading a new book.  Ps. I can hear You Got Mail in the background. Cute movie.
Ports of Call by Amin Maalouf
"He spoke gently and slowly; as if he had to dust off each word before pronouncing it.  And yet his sentences were always impeccable, constructed with care, with no elisions or colloquialisms; sometimes his speech seemed archaic, rather, as if his conversations were held more often with books than with his fellow creatures."
