Hit or Miss

It seems like every few weeks I'll go through 'shoe phases'. For a few weeks at a time all I where is flats, then for another few weeks I'll be on this high heel kick, and on to a boot-wearing obsession. And then the cycle starts all over again. Flats, heels, boots. Flats, heels boots. Flats, heels, boots.

Lately, I'm all about heels! Heels to work, heels out to dinner, heels to the movies (however, I am NEVER in the mood to wear heels to classes).

During this heel binge I've been all about platform heels, they are my addiction! Especially these three... (WARNING: I literally get compliments at least once every single time i wear these! So if you don't like attention or compliments, do not wear any of these ;) )

Jessica Simpson Collection, Genaviv in Cognac. They also come in white, black, and dark chocolate, and they are to die for! They have a 5" heel, yet somehow they are unusually comfortable and light-weight. Nordstrom, $89. 5" spike heel, 1.5" platfom.

xhilaration Tina cut-out sandals in Brown, also available in a pretty champagne color and black. These are killer! Target, $19.99. 4.5" Thick heel, 3/4" platform.

And last but not least, another amazing and amazingly affordable pair of Target heels! Xhilaration Tobbyn Sandal in Blue Print. I love these because they combine three big trends in one! Prints, Peep-toes and platforms :) Target, $19.99. 4" thick heel, 1" platform.

Happy Fourth :)

I just found out I got 95/100 on my Italian exam! Benissimo!
I can't wait to leave for Italy <333

I found the place I know I belong, it's an amazing feeling. I can't wait until my life leads me there, whether for graduate or ungraduate work. It's called Art Center College of Design. Not only is the curriculum seem amazing and unique, it's in an amazing location - a hilltop in Pasadena with an incredible view!

If you just hold in your breath

'til you come back up in full
hold in your breath
'til you thought it through.

The new Regina Spektor album is amazing <33 Beautiful, haunting, provoking and very quirky. My favorite tracks off the album so far are Genius Next Door and Laughing with. It's worth the money.

For the past year or so, I've been really inspired by Venessa Hudgens and her bohemian/rocker/chic look. The other day I stumbled across InStyle UK at the bookstore, and her cover caught my eye - it's gorgeous!

A thousand flowers could bloom

Listening to- Glory Box by Portishead

I finished another quarter of school yesterday and it feels amazing. No school for 12 days when I have to go back for summer session.

5 Things on my mind

1. I love Lady Gaga's The Fame CD. I was such a Lady Gaga hater initially. However, I am now a huge fan! I definitely think it's the best Pop CD I've heard since the 90s pop glory days of Britney, Christina, and N*SYNC
2. Another of one of best friends is moving. First Laura after the 6th grade haha, then Raul last month to Portland, and now Cassi leaves for Chico, Ca on Friday. So sad!
3. I can't wait to leave for Italy on August 25th, I'll be there for three weeks :)
4. I no longer have any desire to be a dentist. I could do it if I wanted too, but studying science can be creatively suffocating. Between that and living in the Inland Empire, I know that I need creativity, art, and culture in my life to be happy. I really am learning a lot about myself in college haha
5. I saw Taking Back Sunday sidestage twice last week. Definitely something I've dreamed of since I was 14. Raul is on tour with them, so I owe him a big big thanks!

Good Reads

Listening to: "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" - Cage the Elephant

I'm taking a comparative literature course this quarter, it's allowed to fall in love with reading again! Not that I ever really 'unloved' (haha) reading novels and short story collections, but I always had my nose buried in my textbooks. However, this made me make time to read some more enjoyable pieces.

SOO, if you are looking for a good book may I recommend;

Ports of Call by Amin Maalouf
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
A Night in Acadie by Kate Chopin
Behind Closed Doors by Maria Messina

Picked up Laura Mercier Flawless Face Kit today at Sephora. I've been wanting to try her make-up for awhile now. I see great reviews online and my beautiful friend Laura uses it and swears by it! This was such a great deal, I figured if I was ever going to try it, it should be now! Can't wait to see if it works...

I can forgive, but I cannot forget

I've learned I can forgive most anyone. I have felt such strong anger towards people before - girl friends, teachers, family members, my peers. But time has always healed that. With time, I no longer feel the anger at the thought of that person. Unfortunately, I really cannot forget the feelings that were hurt, the insecurities that were embedded, the embarrassment I felt, and the betrayal I tasted. I can learn to look over them at most times with time, but the truth is they will ways still be there. I'm not going to apologize for that either, I am human. I'm not going to be made to feel guilty for this either. I have become friends again with people I thought I never would. I have pleasant simple conversations with people I thought I could never talk to again. I've even accepted Facebook friend requests to some of my childhood 'enemies', the few that made me feel my lowest.

Anyways, all I have to say is time is an amazing prescription. When the proper dosage of time, nearly anything can be healed.

All I'm asking for is time to forgive you. What it comes down to is, I hope I run into you in five years. Maybe then I'll let go of the things I've been made to feel.

For the mean time, this will be the soundtrack of my life :) This, time, and my books will have to get me through. I've got quite a journey ahead of me

This is how it works

You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't

Today I'm tired.  Lately I find myself daydreaming of Edvard Munch.  Who could blame me?  His paintings are enchanting. Definitely one of my top three favorite painters.  Maybe even in the number one spot.

Simple, Honest, Tangible, Haunting, Mesmerizing, and so on and so forth

Where do you live?

Love is a place

Part 1.
I love to people-watch. Here are some observations I've made lately.

I can always tell when men are foreign when...
1. They are wearing 'manpris' (capris for men)
2. They are carrying a across the body 'manpurse'
3. Usually topped off with a tight tee and/or flip flops or velcro sandals

Anyone agree?

In the winter, I can always tell when a girl is in a sorority when...
1. She is wearing a sweatshirt with her letters
2. With true religion jeans tucked into Ugg Boots
3. She's wearing the Tiffany's heart toggle necklace that blew up after Legally Blonde from 2004 or however longgg ago that movie came out
4. She's carrying a canvas tote bag with her sorority's letter screenprinted on or some phrase like "______ is for girls who like pearls".  Since when did any letter of the greek alphabet sound like Juicy Couture?
5. She believes this is a fashionable combination

Part 2.

JUICY HAS THE CUTEST CROSSBODY BAGS RIGHT NOW...

I need some meaning I can memorize

... the kind I have always seems to slip my mind

Reading a new book.  Ps. I can hear You Got Mail in the background. Cute movie.
Ports of Call by Amin Maalouf
"He spoke gently and slowly; as if he had to dust off each word before pronouncing it.  And yet his sentences were always impeccable, constructed with care, with no elisions or colloquialisms; sometimes his speech seemed archaic, rather, as if his conversations were held more often with books than with his fellow creatures."

Ten Current Obsessions

1. The return of Depeche Mode :)  Watch the music video for Wrong on youtube, I wanted to post it but the embedding for the video had been disabled.

2. Zooey Deschanel reminds me of completely a more talented,  creative, natural, unique and beautiful version of Katy Perry. I first noticed her on one of my favorite shows Weeds.  But she's everywhere right now and I'm loving it! She just co-starred in the Yes Man with Jim Carrey, has her band She & Him, sang on a couple tracks on Jason Schwartzman's new band, Coconut Records' album, and she is ENGAGED TO BEN GIBBARD! No fair :)

3. Playsuits, jumpsuits, rompers... Whatever you want to call them.  They are my favorite! They're super cute, comfy, fashionable and perfect for days where you're short on time but want to ditch those sweatpants.  All I do is throw one on with a cute pair of wedges or woven sandals and I'm good to go and looking like I spent a lot more time getting ready than I did.... So far I have an adorable black satin romper from my work that Raul bought me, and a vintage print one that I am obsessed with.  I found it at a Buffalo Exchange on a trip to Portland a few weekends ago with my dad.

4.  Indian Food <3

5. Freaks and Geeks was only aired for one season on NBC and I don't
understand why.  How are there multiple seasons of Flavor of Love and a gajillion seasons of America's Next Top Model but only one season of this show?  James Franco, Jason Segal, Seth Rogan, Linda Cardellini all in one show and only one season? I still don't get it.

6. twitter.com/camillewynn

7. Denim shorts and tights.  I'm not sure why I'm making that face in the picture hahah I was apparently rather concentrated...

8.  Kate Chopin, Maria Messina, and Charlotte Bronte... Who needs the Twilight Series when we have them?

9.  Center parts and my new long hair! Mom and dad when you see this please ignore my cluttered bathroom hahah

10. Silversun Pickups newest album is amazing... Buy it! It's worth every penny

cause now we say goodnight, from our separate sides

like brothers on a hotel bed...

Isn't it strange when you feel change before it begins. Or when you know something is over before it is?
I think there is a lot more to the human brain before we know.

HAPPY EASTER <33> I'm spending the day at my parents' house in Lake Elsinore.  I love beautiful California days like today. Here's a couple pictures I took when I was outside playing with the dogs earlier. I couldn't resist reading my book outside for a little because it was such a beautiful day.  I've been feeling sick since last night and it helped to have some fresh air.  I never knew how beautiful Elsinore was until I moved to Riverside haha. I love my school just not the area.... But I won't be there much longer anyways.

The other night I was walking out of work around 10pm and had to walk to the 3rd floor of the parking structure alone. It was late, dark and cold.  My keys were in my hand and I was plotting exactly how I would fight back if I was attacked.  And then I realized I do this EVERYTIME I walk anywhere alone, especially at night.

And I should right?

As a girl growing up, I was taught to not go certain places alone, not drive in certain areas even just in case my car were to break down, and that a girl/women needs to do certain things in life to stay alive and safe.  I feel like our society has down a good job at teaching females to live in constant fear, and has done a terrible job at teaching males how to properly treat women and to be good people.
I feel like if the same amount of effort was put into teaching our young boys how to treat women and live life, that is given to teach women to carry pepper spray then there might be a huge improvement in this area.

Anyways, picked up this cute vintage-inspired glasses for 5.80 at forever 21 the other day. They're so fun I couldn't resist!!

Happy Easter everyone

I'm looking forward to the upcoming week and not to all the homework that I'll have....

Autonomy

versus love.

So many thoughts running through my mind they actually hold me back.  I'm in my own world lately, I have too much going on to function these days.  Too many things.  I need take everything one thing at a time and make a step in a new direction.

Back to writing my paper on Jane Eyre. Read this book before you die.

The whole world it loves you,

if you are a chic chameleon...

I will probably start all my blogs with "I've been so busy..." haha

so..

I've been so busy... and finally have a minute to write.

Over my Spring break last week, I went out t
o LA twice.  Both times the weather was perfect, I love springtime in California.  The first trip was an amazing day for shopping on Larchmont.  First stop was getting a regular NSA Vanilla Ice Blended from Coffee bean, those are my favorites!  Unfortunately they aren't too many Coffee beans, or convenient locations at least, anywhere but LA.  So it's a treat every time.  Then after I walked out a
lady stopped me and asked to take a picture of me because she liked my outfit.  I'm not gunna
lie, I
was looking pretty cute that day
. It's nothing big but just a cool feeling. I've had this happen a few times before but I had been walking around Coachella the previous time
s. I'm assuming it's for one of those LA street fashion sections in a little magazine or maybe she was a fashion student. She looked a little too old for that but who knows.  I completely wished I would've asked what it was for, but it was an awkward moment as I had to stand there and try to look  for the picture while balancing my Ice Blended and hold Norah
in the other hand... haha.  Then I went to a cute little boutique that was having a HUGE sale on the whole store, except for their last Spring shipment.  I
snagged an adorable $75 fedora for only $10, which will be perfect for this year as menswear for women is still very fashionable. I then went to Whole Foods for some sushi then off to Beverly Hills to pick up some Sprinkles Cupcakes. I got a mocha and a vanilla one, and I wasn't too pleased with the mocha one.  So far my favorites are Vanilla and Red Velvet. Yummy =) If you haven't been to Sprinkles before y
ou are missing out, and you need to go! There's a few other locations too that I've seen on their website.

I started back to school last week. I don't know how I really feel about my classes this quarter yet.  So far I do know my Violence Against Women class is going to be interesting and intriguing, and Chemistry 1B will not be haha.

I also threw Raul a mini birthday party, a month after his real birthday haha. But that's just how life is when someone is gone on tour A LOT. It was fun we played wii, spent time with some friends, and ate a delicious cake.  We took this picture right before peopl
e started to come over, and I'm wearing my new hat from my LA trip in it.

This past Sunday I went to Glen Ivy Hot Springs and Spa with my mom to celebrate her birthday.  It was a wonderful day.  We each had 'Spring Detoxes' which consisted of a sugar scrub, a 60  min swedish massage, Eucalyptus Wrap, and a trip down to the Grotto.  Afterwards we laid out (in the shade haha, I don't want to tan these
days!), ate, and read.  I even did the whole cover myself in mud thing hahah. It was a realy good trip and fun to spend time with  mom, the only down fall was that I had a male masseuse who obviously was too much for fragile me as I was covered in bruises the next day from the massage... ouch!

Since this picture things I've really changed from me, even though it's barely been over a week.  I GOT FUSION HAIR EXTENSIONS
hahah I'm excited and I love them if you can't tell. They were a gift
from Raul, lucky me! Here's a few pictures.  I got them wavy rather than straight cause I don't like
how straight one don't blend as well sometimes or look stringy... Here's a few pictures.

Right now I'm really into those Bertolli Frozen Pastas that you cook on the stove. They are soo good, and soo cheap! Try them =) And I still love my iced soy caramel macchiatos  form Nordstrom eBar or Starbucks, iced coffees with white mocha syrup and a light room for nonfat milk, california rolls, and chinese chicken salads. Mmm..

And.. I absolutely cannot wait for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland to be out in theaters.  It's going to be a longgg time as I don't think they've even began production but I can't wait.  Johnny Depp is even going to be in it.. I wonder if he's going to be the Catepillar, the Mad Hatter, or maybe Alice?
tehe ;)
It's a combo of three of my favorite things.. Alice, Tim, and Johnny!

butterflies and hurricanes...

First and Foremost
I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY!
... and I finally have a break. Sleeping is truly a lovely feeling.

Since it's been a while, I have a feeling this is going to be a long post...
I finished up all my five of my finals and got an A on all five I hope. Then I worked 27 hours over the weekend, but at least I was able to sleep at night.  I'm so glad I've been lucky enough to get a lot of hours with the economy how it is (especially since I have a speeding ticket to pay).

I'm really looking forward to this upcoming quarter in school. Since I'll only be going to school two days a week, I'll have more 'me' time. Time to paint, time to spend time with friends and family, time to just enjoy life really. I also have a few 'projects' I guess you could call them that I want to get started on. There's just a few things in my life that I keep pushing to the side or completely away, but I'm really determined for change now =) I'm really excited for classes next quarter too, they should be fun and interesting. I'm taking Chemistry 1B (ew!), and Violence against Women and Language, Literature, and Culture (hopefully both of those will be as interesting as they sound).

I've noticed lately how much I enjoy driving alone.  It's really the only time I get to get listen to music and throw around some ideas I normally don't have time for. I really value the time I get to myself where I can just let my thoughts flow like that. I love driving in the rain, or in the sun and listening to whatever music I feel like.  A nice drive really clears my mind.  A nice drive unless a punk cop pulls me over and gives me a ticket, like the other night. Regardless, I still lovee driving alone and the clarity it gives me.

I got my hair done today which is good. I needed it BADLY. I had been putting it off because of school and just not having time to spare. I'm also getting extensions within the next week as a belated birthday and Christmas present from Raul.  He told me he'd get them for me and I kept putting it off and putting it off some more but I finally made an appointment for a consultation and color match! WOOOOO I'm SO excited :D
My long hair is definitely missed.

Lately I'm really into getting my nails painting fun, bright, and cute which is a changed from the usual black, dark red, dark blue I had been getting.  My first adventure was LEOPARD NAILS! Haha they were very crazy but absolutely adorable and I got compliments on them every day until I took the paint off.  I went to a nail salon near my parents' in Lake Elsinore, where I had gone quiet a bit when I lived out there.  Little did I know the owner could do all these fun designs.  She had one of those scary plastic hands with different designs, and one of them was leopard! I had just been talking to the lady that does my nails out in Riverside about them the last time I was in.
So I just HAD to get that and it was a fun change!

Then this past Sunday I picked up a ton of cute products from MAC's new Sugarsweet collection. It's one of my most favorite lines they have put out. I picked up some bright but pale pink lipstick, a Shadestick in Lemon Chiffon (sounds yummy I know!), and Seasonal Peach nail polish and my favoriteeeeeee purchase Peppermint Patti nail polish.  It's the prettiest light mint yummy green <3

Do your trick, light up the stars...

Jupiter shines so bright when you're around <3

Raul comes home from Anberlin's Australia and Japan tour tomorrow.  I'm currently baking him a birthday cake, as it was his birthday 2 weeks ago.  At the time he was still was in Australia, so I wanted to do something special for him.  I gave him his gifts before he left, but I still wanted to do something special for him.  I'm baking a classic yellow cake with homemade chocolate frosting! yum!

Here's a picture of Raul on the bullet train in Tokyo!  He took it on his iPhone and then used a super cool free app to add the polaroid frame an writing.  It's called Polarize... I recommend it to any iPhone parents ;D

...and here's a picture he took in Australia when he went to an Aquarium there.

If anyone reads this blog yet, just wanted to let you all know urbanoutfitters.com is doing freeeeee FREE shipping on any orders with shoes (that aren't already on sale).   Just wanted to pass that along...

More pictures of Norah!

Don't let anyone tell you you need to be a certain way...

Right now I'm really into Franz Ferdinand's newer album Tonight.  I was lucky enough to score the deluxe edition :D  There's not just a few songs on there that are good, there are A TON! And that catchy song, Oh You Girls, on the newest Apple commercial is Track # on the album.  I definitely recommend investing in that album...

In six hours I have Psychology midterm that I just want over!  In fact I just want this quarter over... 2 weeks left today.

After my test I have to work.  All I have to say is that work is definitely a place to practice the good old golden rule.  It definitely pays off to help people and cover their shifts when they need it, because now that I'm busy with school and need shifts covered I don't feel as bad asking people.  Especially when I've done it for them before.  And people are more willing to cover my shifts when I need it.
Which reminds me of a discussion from my Philosophy Ethics and the Meaning of Life class this quarter... Are we good, moral people only for its consequences? Or is being good and moral enough in itself? Or are we good, moral people because of a combo of both?

Do I do people favors just so they'll do one for me in return? Or do I help them just because of the peace helping others brings me? Or both?
Well I know my answers to those questions...

It's interesting take just acting nice, good, and moral to the next level and question what drives us to act this way.  And then there's the idea that if we only make good choices based on our own selfish desires, (ex. donating money to charities to look like a good person and to boost one's reputation) does that make a right action wrong?
A lot to think about.

On a different note... haha. I found some great stuff on ebay this week, an adorable dress and boots, and I can't wait for them to come in the mail! Plus they're both vintage SO I can completely justify spending money :D Believe or not, vintage shopping is actually leaves a positive impact on the environment. It reduces the literally 2 quadrillion pounds a year that America alone throws away in clothes (even though I'd never call this stuff trash 0_0 ), it doesn't use any sweatshop labor, no extra pesticides or being used to grow the cotton for it, and no child labor is used to harvest the cotton.  Hooray for vintage shopping and finally being able to justify shopping! It's also good to know you're not going to run into anyone wearing the same thing. I also enjoyed standing out from the crowd going up, but I've really learned to value actual uniqueness lately. Don't let anyone tell you you need to be a certain way...

Busy week ahead of me

xoxo
